So we're stuck in the middle of France. No luggage - because Enterprise apparently doesn't have cars big enough for six people and their luggage. We sent our luggage ahead with some other friends. Of course the French refuse to speak English. Enterprise will not help us out. For some reason they do not have coverage in France, Belgium or Luxembourg even though all of these countries border Germany. But ADAC (Europe's AAA) came through!!! We got a tow to a local garage. Of course the mechanic only speaks French and German and refuses to change the tire that night. But ADAC again!! They find us a hotel and pay for it! AND pay for the taxi to get us to and from the hotel and garage. Fantastic! So we have no luggage but we do have food and beer :-)
The next day we get on the road and don't arrive to our wonderful chalet we're sharing with 11 others until 2:30pm. Too late for skiing :-(
The next day we wake up and its snowing. We think "Fantastic! Fresh Powder!" Which there was. Unfortunately because of the bad weather public transportation was not working. So we had to cross country ski to the lift. Man is that difficult!
We make it up the mountain and the first run is beautiful! Through the trees with fresh powder. We climb further up the mountain and the fog sets in. For most of the rest of the day we can't see more than 20 feet ahead of us. At one point I thought I was lost. I didn't know which way to turn. Everything was white!! I continue about 30 feet and there's the lift - crazy!
Eventually we make it over to our first run where we are still able to see so that was a great end to the day.
Over all you might think the trip was disappointing but we were with some great, fun people and we actually ended up having a wonderful time!
