Nebraska

Family picture, days before leaving our Montgomery house.

After a three day road trip, we finally made it to Nebraska near the beginning of February.

Compared to Alabama, it was cold! -4 degrees!!

While we searched for a house to rent we stayed in temporary lodging on base.  We were amazed to find that our temporary lodging was actually a house!  Complete with 3 bedrooms (Charlie still slept in the bathroom - he likes the dark), two stories, and a garage.  The garage was handy for storing everything we packed in our Penske truck.

view from our temporary house - snow!!

Charlie got used to the stairs after a few tumbles and rug burns.  Luckily they were carpeted!

While we searched for a house, we took some time off to play in the snow.  Charlie was not too sure what he thought about it.

We moved into our rental house about 2 weeks after we got to Omaha.  I wanted to move fast as Mike was leaving soon for a 5 week training course in Spokane.

We love our rental!  Its very spacious, has a nice backyard for Luna, and is in a fantastic neighborhood.  We did have a little bit of painting to do before moving our stuff in.

Charlie's room.

Charlie's room is done.  Painting is exhausting!!

Charlie took some time off from painting to lounge in the giant bean bag chair.

We also took some time to shop.  Did you know that there is a Goodwill outlet?  This store has all of the items that do not sell in the regular Goodwill stores.  They are placed in these huge rolling bins that reminded me of those dumpsters you can rent.  Smaller of course.
Anyway, everyone rummages through the bins and then you pay for your items by the pound.  We got these toys for Charlie for about $7.  Crazy!

Road Trippin'

Before we headed to Nebraska we made on last trip to IKEA in Atlanta.  Our closest IKEA to Omaha is Chicago I believe so we had to stock up!!

Charlie was very helpful packing up the house.
He enjoyed playing in his empty room.

Before we left Alabama, we stayed for a couple of nights at a hotel on base.

All hooked up and ready to drive to Nebraska!

The drive from Montgomery to Omaha took 16 hours.  We took 3 days to do it, stopping for overnights in Nashville, TN and Columbus, MO.
This was my view for 3 days.

Charlie is such a good road-tripper.

Stopping at Cracker Barrel for some lunch.

We had some delicious BBQ in Nashville!!
