Babymoon

I'm back!!!

Last year was incredibly busy with teaching and I just never found the time to sit down and share what was going on in our lives.  Plus, we never did anything - after teaching all week all I wanted to do was sleep on the weekends :-)
But now I'm substitute teaching as we get ready for Baby Skarda to arrive and I have a little more time on my hands.

And we've been doing more traveling and taking pictures :-)

This weekend we headed up to the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee for one last trip without a small child.  Fall is my favorite season.  Unfortunately it is not a season that Alabama recognizes.  Luckily the Smokies delivered!

We stayed in a small cabin just outside Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.  Talk about touristy!  But luckily our little "resort" was quiet and secluded.

The cabin was small but had everything we needed - huge king sized bed, hot tub, wood burning fire place, beautiful views of the forest, and allowed Luna.  And even some things we didn't need - red, heart shaped jacuzzi in the bedroom.  We did not take advantage of that.

Mike enjoys the outdoor hot tub.

Hanging out in the kitchen.

Our first full day in Tennessee, we decided to go on a hike.  There were trails right on the resort so we took advantage of one that was classified as 'moderate' and often times 'steep'.  I figured if it was too much we could always turn around.

Enjoying the flat part of the trail.

When they said steep they meant it!
Carrying 30 extra pounds is hard!

Mike and Luna, not breaking a sweat.

The next day we decided to check out the National Park.  Unfortunately there were only 2 trails in the entire park that allowed dogs - and they were pretty lame - so we decided to do a driving tour instead and stopped when the mood struck us to check things out.

Beautiful colors!!

We saw a bear!!  We were just talking about
what it would take to see a bear and around the next corner one appeared!

Gorgeous sunset.

Even with the 6 hour drive to get there (boo) we had a wonderful trip.  It was great to be in a cooler area with fall colors and wood burning fires.  We would definitely like to go back someday.

We also noticed thats its about 1/2 the distance to MD if anyone in that area would be interested in meeting us :-)
