Gardening

Our cute little yellow house was in desperate need of some landscaping tlc when we moved in.  There is a gigantic bush to the right of the house that looked like it hadn't been pruned in about 6 years (the last time the landlord lived in the house)  Mike tackled that about a month ago.  Now the bush looks much neater and we're thinking about cutting it back even more.

The small garden in the front of the house was overgrown with weeds.  So starting last weekend and finishing today we weeded, planted some new flowers, and mulched.  I must say the front of the house looks much nicer now.  And it was lots of fun.  I'm contemplating putting a little garden in the back now.  Blueberries, tomatoes, snap peas......

This was the house when we moved in.  You can't see the bush but it was HUGE and the front there is blah.

Its hard to tell with the shadow but the flower bed is all cleaned up and the bush is much smaller!

pretty flowers :-)

Atlanta

Last weekend we headed to Atlanta with some of Mike's classmates to catch a Braves game.  We drove over on Saturday morning and headed straight to the game.  It was a lot of fun and we got a bonus Ludacris concert after the game was over.  Around the 8th inning they were like "oh by the way Ludacris is here if you want to stick around after the game for a concert." And we were like "of course we'll stick around for a free concert".

 surprise - its Ludacris!

One of Mike classmates has family in Atlanta, so after the game we headed to his parent's house for a bbq.  The house was amazing and the backyard was beautiful.  There was a pool, tennis court/basketball court and even a zip line which we all tried out.  Well everyone but Mike tried it out - he was afraid the wire won't hold his weight.

 wheeeeeeeeee!
the 'house' from the back - beautiful!

After a delicious bbq we hit the town.

view of the city from the HIlton - I know we're fancy

The next morning we headed back home but not before stopping from some hangover food at the Varsity.  The Varsity is a fast food restaurant unique to the Atlanta area.

yay for weekend trips!  We're excited to use Montgomery's central location to visit many areas in the south for the next 3 years!

Painting

Mike and I have acquired an investment property.  Before the renters moved in we had to do a little working.  Mostly painting and cleaning.  There was a lot of bubbling paint so it was fun to scrap the walls first!
